Crunchy Lungs With a Side of Yelling

Image
I merely wish I was this high like I was on pain pills after having had carpel tunnel surgery twenty years ago but no such luck. The husband likes to pick at me about calling asthmatic lung wheezy feeling as "crunchy lung". They don't actually crunch, they just feel like I imagine it might feel if you deep fried them, a deep ache. That's me right now. Earlier today the husband did that thing I hate the most, wake up and announce he had a brilliant brainstorm. Like usual it wasn't very brilliant, in fact I'd say it was more like a passing slight drizzle than a storm. He started babbling top speed about painting the wall in the living room behind the washer/dryer when they're getting replaced in ten days. What followed was a frustrating mast cell conversation where I had to point out again and again that repainting any part of the inside of the house involved me moving out for a few weeks while it aired. He kept asking why until I started yelling it was ma...

Rogue Bananas and Other Random Allergens

Image
Today's random bodily stupidity has its roots in yesterday. Yesterday when we ran errands I made sure to grab four bananas, two green, two ripe. Why? Well, the riper the banana the more off gassing of sulfur fumes you get. Sulfur anything but especially fumes gets me. Late last night as I was taking meds I stopped to eat one of the two greenish bananas I bought for myself. I took care to make sure I did not eat a ripe one. I cannot eat ripe ones, its a trip to asthma city. Didn't fucking matter. Eat banana, wheeze, realize I need to completely rinse the mouth out and scrub hard to get rid of the nasty allergic banana in my system. I don't know what went wrong unless my allergy to ripe bananas has now spread to unripe ones. Too bad, I always loved them. They taste incredible here, so much better fresh than in the States. This morning get up with the lingering nonsense from moving into week three of the flu ( low fevers, exhaustion, stomach issues ) and go headfirst into mo...

One Flu In

Image
Starting again with a dumb meme. Have had the flu all week. I was vaccinated for it back in October like everyone else. So thank you systemic mastocytosis for this little joy! A reality is you can be vaccinated, and again, more than once and get the thing you're trying to avoid. Shingles, influenza, pertussis, you name it! But because your body is so damn weird when you get all the usual symptoms, everything exiting your body rapidly out your ass, coughing, runny nose, high fever and joint pain one of your symptoms takes a trip to Stupidville just to torture you. My special flu superpower is joint pain in my breast bone where my ribs are loosely attached. Only thing that seems to help is small heating pad directly on the breast bone on high. If you need me I'm off quivering in pain under the heating pad trying not to shat myself. Laters.

My Stupid Body

New irksome symptom. On Christmas Day several hours after having hosted friends and eaten dinner I sat here at my computer writing when suddenly the top of my entire head felt like it was on fire. Extremely hot and a level of itchy I'd never encountered before. Not even during my regular bouts of Shingles.  It was very strange, passed only after I medded with the usual stuff very heavily. Later I read that it was a food allergy / mild anaphylaxis thing that can spiral into something more serious. My fucking body! I cooked foods I'd eaten for years. Why now?
